Info about "Victor"
Release: November 2006
The dgv Font Label is proud to present the very first font by the Parisian graphic design duo “Bowling Club ?”. The Victor font was inspired by Op-art pioneer Victor Vasarely and has a parallel geometric aesthetic. The font is slightly dizzying and even the creators of the font admit to getting sick during the design process, but it’s a great font for when you need to design a real eye-catching headline. And the best part about Victor is that you can get a bold design by simply typing… 1, 2, 3 and voila!

Can you tell us a little about yourselves?
We (Mathieu Massat and Pierre Guillaume) are graphic designers and work under the name “Bowling Club ?”. We’re interested in exploring new processes as well as mediums and incorporate this approach when working with clients in the fields of art (artists, galleries, museums, art foundations) architecture, and music. In search of developing our personal projects, we are working with Dalbin Label for Visual Music.

A short description about the font
The Victor font design is based on the OCR font (designed by Adrian Frutiger) and was redrawn on a diagonal grid. During the design process, we threw up twice!
What was this font intended for? Is there a special story behind the name?
We designed the font and used it to design the catalogue for the Territoires Electroniques 2005 festival organized by the Vasarely Foundation in Aix-en-Provence and used the font for it. Victor Vasarely was a graphic designer and created the first works to be considered Op-art. It just made sense to call the font Victor.
What is the ideal usage of your font?
Victor is great for headlines and we recommend that you use the font starting from size 70.
Do you think that too many fonts exist?
Definitely not!
