Nacho Carbonell

 June 25 – 26, 10:00 – 19:00

Since Nacho Carbonell’s debut collection with his graduation project from the Design Academy Eindhoven, the renowned Spanish-born sculptor and product designer Nacho Carbonell has quickly earned his position as a strong force in contemporary limited edition design. His pieces and collections engage with the senses and have a highly recognizable style combining organic forms with rough, colorful finishing textures using everything from handcrafted recycled papers, corn seeds, broken glass and rusted metals to high tech materials.

He was nominated as Designer of the Year (2009) by the Design Museum London and received the Designer of the Future Award by DesignMiami (2009). His work is included in private collections and museums such as the Groningen Museum in the Netherlands and 21_21 Sight in Japan.

“I like to see objects as living organisms, imagining them coming alive and being able to surprise you with their behavior. I want to create objects with my hands, then I can give them my personality. I turn them into communicative objects that can arouse one’s sensations and imagination. In short, what I want to create are objects with a fictional or fantasy element that allow you to escape everyday life.” - Nacho Carbonell

About Gestalten Space

About Gestalten Space

5 Conceived as an outlet to materialize the world that we publish and bring it to life, Gestalten Space opened its doors in our home city Berlin in April 2011. Here at Gestalten, we are not only thrilled to present our comprehensive collection of books that we have published to date—both new, as well as coveted, hard-to-find archive titles but also to present a striking selection of handpicked and thematically-arranged products by the designers and artists that we have presented through our publications.

Doubling as a platform for exchanging ideas and further enriching and fostering emerging creative processes at the nexus of design and art, the gallery offers an engaging program of exhibitions, lectures, and surprise events.
